Tips

Tips for a registered nurse CV

Show your registration clearly

Write your registration, the country and, if you wish, the number, near the top of your CV. It is often the first thing a nurse employer checks.

Name your clinical areas

List the wards and specialties you have worked in, such as surgical, medical, emergency or aged care, with the years in each.

Add your English test result

If you have taken OET or IELTS, give the test, the result and the date. Results usually have an expiry, so keep them current.

Say how many patients you cared for

A line like "up to eight patients per shift" helps an employer picture your work. Only use numbers you can stand behind.

Show where you are with registration abroad

Each country has its own nursing regulator. If you have started registering, add it with its status. The country guides name the regulators.

Working abroad

Applying in another country?

Nurses need to register with the nursing regulator in the country where they want to work, and each country has its own steps. See the country guides for the official links.
