Sample duties
Use the ones that are true for you, in your own words, with numbers where you can back them up.
- Help residents with washing, dressing, toileting and meals.
- Support residents living with dementia with patience and respect.
- Move and position people safely with hoists and other aids.
- Remind residents to take their medicines, as the care plan allows.
- Watch for changes in health or mood and report them to the nurse.
- Write clear daily care notes.
- Keep rooms clean and follow infection control rules.
- Spend time with residents and help with activities.
Tips for a aged care worker CV
List your certificates
Write each caregiving certificate exactly as it appears, with the school and year. Add first aid and infection control training too.
Describe where you worked
Say if you worked in a care home, a hospital or in people's own homes, and how many people you usually cared for on a shift.
Show dementia and safe moving skills
Many care jobs ask for these. If you have training or daily experience, put it in your skills and duties.
Mention police checks only when asked
Some employers ask for a police check. You don't need to put it on your CV, but have it ready if the employer asks.
List every language you speak
Residents and families may speak other languages. Your languages can help, so list them all with your level.
